Piers Morgan thanks British Airways crew during 'horrendously worrying' times

Piers Morgan has hit out at British Airways for treating staff 'appallingly' while thanking them for looking after him at a 'horrendously worrying' time.

Last week Piers and Good Morning Britain co-host Susanna Reid announced that there were taking an extended break from the show for summer and he has wasted no time on going on holiday.

On Sunday, Piers took a selfie on board a plane and tweeted: "I’m a washed up, knackered, pathetic excuse for a celebrity - get me outta here. Bye Britain, it’s been... surreal."

And, while he didn't mention where he jetted off to, Piers has now revealed that he flew with British Airways, and while slamming the company, heaped praise on its cabin crew.

Last week it was reported that BA wants to impose a pay freeze on thousands of staff which will last for the rest of their working lives, according to Unite.

It's claimed they plan to axe up tens of thousands of staff and rehire some on far worse pay and conditions, a move which has led to protests across the country, including Newcastle.

Piers Morgan branded hypocrite as he says bye to 'surreal' Britain (@piersmorgan/Twitter)

Paying tribute to staff, Piers posted: "My thanks to all the @British_Airways crew on BA346 to Nice yesterday.I

"t's been a horrendously worrying time for all BA staff, who are being treated appallingly by the management, but they were as efficient courteous & (particularly)safety-conscious as always. Much appreciated."

Rather surprisingly, he got a quick response from British Airway's official Twitter account, with them replying: "We've been sure to pass your compliments on to the crew Piers, and we hope you enjoy your break."

A member of staff also responded to Piers' tweet, writing: "Thanks @piersmorgan for your continued support to us as BA employees .Your support, coverage & kind words of encouragement re our plight has been a real boost to us as we fight to keep our jobs & keep looking after fab customers like you."
