Piers Morgan has thrown his support behind a heroic Geordie nurse who has gone viral with an emotional video in response to the Clap for Carers on Thursday night.

Millions of people across the country paid tribute to the hard working NHS staff who are fighting the frontline battle against coroavirus in the UK, by taking to their streets or leaning out of their windows and balconies to cheer and clap in tribute to them.

Senior Charge nurse Craig Leathard, who works at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital
in Cramlington, was left in tears by the scenes he witnessed as he stepped outside his workplace.

Filming in selfie mode using his phone, Craig said: "It’s been a really hard week for everybody, but I’ve just took the team outside to listen.

“That is absolutely… I don’t think there’s any words for that but to everybody - thank you.”

He uploaded the video to Facebook and Twitter with the heartfelt post: “Wow just wow ......

“I’ve stood on many ambulance bays and shed sad tears over the years , tonight that was different I cannot tell you just how special connected and proud that made us feel to ‘Our’ communities .
