Piers Morgan has slammed Meghan Markle’s close friend Omid Scobie for “trashing” the Queen.
Omid’s controversial book Finding Freedom: Meghan and Harry is a Sunday Times bestseller.
But Piers found the writer’s new epilogue hard to stomach, especially because he believed it took a cheap potshot at her Royal Majesty, Queen Elizabeth.
Outspoken broadcaster Piers was livid with Omid and branded him a “lickspittle” – a person who behaves unbefitting to those in power.
"While everyone should be free to express opinion on public figures, discrediting a person’s mental health issues on TV reinforced a dangerous stigma and put others at risk," blasted Piers, who left his post as host of Good Morning Britain for his comments criticising the Duchess of Sussex.
"You just trashed the Queen in your garbage book without a care for the mental health of a 95-year-old woman grieving the loss of her husband."
And Piers wasn’t finished there as he continued to rip shreds out of the Sussexes' official biographer after he questioned Ofcom’s latest ruling that cleared him of any wrongdoing over his remarks.
Omid “questioned” the verdict and stressed: "While everyone should be free to express opinion on public figures, discrediting a person’s mental health issues on TV reinforced a dangerous stigma and put others at risk.”
Media watchdog Ofcom confirmed that Piers was entitled to his opinions – and he duly hailed the result as a huge win for freedom of speech.
And writing in his latest column for MailOnline, Piers stressed: “Ofcom’s vindication of me is a resounding victory for freedom of speech and a resounding defeat for Princess Pinocchios who think we should all be compelled to believe every fork-tongued word they say – now, do I get my GMB job back?”
“This is a landmark ruling by Ofcom. They rejected every single complaint against me.
Make no mistake, this is a watershed moment in the battle for free speech.
“If OFCOM had found against me, that would have signalled the end of every UK TV journalist's right to express any honestly held opinion on air lest it upset the likes of Meghan Markle.”
Author Omid revealed that Meghan and Prince Harry are making “very little progress” in trying to heal their rift with the Royals and suggested they could reveal more on the row themselves.
"When we speak to sources close to the couple and also sources close to the Royal family, there is this feeling that very little progress is being made," Omid explained on Good Morning America.
"Now I think that when and if we hear more of their journey towards healing these family relations and the issues that they've faced, it's going to be from them themselves."
