Piers Morgan takes fresh swipe at ‘stand-in weather guy’ Alex Beresford in furious rant

Piers Morgan has reignited his bitter feud with former Good Morning Britain co-star Alex Beresford.

The former GMB host, who dramatically quit the show in March following a heated live debate with Alex, has taken another savage swipe at the “stand-in weather person”.

In his return to daytime TV on Australia's Today programme, Piers opened up about his bombshell exit from Good Morning Britain and insinuated that his former co-star had a personal vendetta against him.

During the candid chat with host Karl Stefanovic, Piers shed light on his furious row with Alex amid his controversial opinion on Meghan Markle following her tell-all Oprah Winfrey interview.

At the time, Piers claimed that the Duchess of Sussex had ‘fabricated the truth’ after she confessed that the Royal family had refused to help her amid her mental health battle.

Lifting the lid on the on-air row, Piers explained: "Most people think I never came back. I actually did come back a few minutes later and we had an interesting conversation.

"I don't know if you have a deputy weather person... if you had a deputy stand-in weather person suddenly letting you have it in a personal way, I suspect you wouldn't like it either.

"I thought 'you know what, I will say something I will regret'.”

The controversial TV star added: “I don't mind guests piling into me that's fair game but not friendly fire from your own team. I wasn't having that."

Since his unprecedented exit from the show after six successful years, Good Morning Britain has taken a massive blow.

Ratings have continued to plummet since Piers’ time on the show, with over 1.2million switching off since his departure.

The ITV show took a massive hit last week, with just 450,000 viewers tuning in.

Sharing his thoughts on the decrease in viewership, Piers insisted that he doesn’t take pleasure in seeing the show suffer without him.

"I don't take any pleasure in that,” he admitted.

"There have been five years building up those ratings, ironically on the last day, we beat the BBC which has always been my mission.

“In a way, I scaled the mountain but they are certainly flying very fast down the other side."
