Piers Morgan takes aim at rival Dan Walker over bizarre Alok Sharma question

Piers Morgan took aim at his BBC rival Dan Walker after business secretary Alok Sharma was asked "whether it matters" that Prime Minister Boris Johnson didn't know his own "rule of six" restrictions.

With the government continuing to boycott Good Morning Britain, Piers played a clip from the minister's BBC Breakfast interview today.

Earlier this week, the PM managed to mangle his own "rule of six" after he was questioned by a journalist and wrongly suggested that it only applied indoors.

He later apologised via Twitter and said that he "misspoke" hours before.

Sharma had been questioned about the blunder by Dan, who had asked: "I asked you about the prime minister not knowing those rules and regulations, particularly in the North East yesterday. Does it matter that he didn't know?"

The Business Secretary replied: "If I may say, I think that it's one of those gotcha questions that you get."

Fuming, Piers said: "Let me just get my head around that - asking if it matters? Why would you ask if it matters?! Of course it matters if the prime minister gets it wrong.

"The prime minister didn't know his own rules, the simple 'rule of six' and apparently the government minister put up to defend this said it was a 'gotcha question'.

"I mean, am I losing my mind? Because it seems to me that if the public don't know what the rules are and the prime minister doesn't know what the rules are, it's not a gotcha question.

"It's a fundamental matter of public health that might actually lead to whether people live or die!"

Earlier, Piers had slammed Johnson over his baffling comments, saying: "This prime minister gets even more useless as the days go by!"

"He's just a bumbling fool and this had gone beyond a joke now," Piers raged. "He doesn't even know his simple rule of six."
