Piers Morgan suffers Good Morning Britain blunder after coronavirus restrictions

Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan revealed a slight make-up mishap to viewers on Tuesday morning, as he returned to host the show.

Piers has been hosting GMB throughout the UK lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic.

With the government ordering all non-essential workers and others to remain home as COVID-19 cases increase in the UK and around the world, Piers and co-host Susanna remain in the studio to deliver the news to viewers.

Susanna had been in isolation for two weeks because her son had symptoms, before returning this morning.

While Susanna is back, many of the crew especially behind the scenes remain out of the studio for the foreseeable.

Piers explained that they were trying to keep as few people in the building as possible to maintain social distancing, and to avoid the virus spreading.

With a "dramatic" reduction in crew and in-studio guests, less and less people are in the studio day by day.

Some of the first crew members to leave were the hair and make-up artists, with everyone on the show instead doing their own looks.

Even Piers has been forced to do his own make-up to avoid contact, and he's been "struggling" with it slightly.

While he said his hair was fine, Piers confessed he suffered a little blunder when it came to the make-up and powder on his face.

The touch-ups for the camera left him with orange marks in places, and in his hair.

Showing viewers the side of his head, Piers confessed to fans and Susanna that it wasn't quite working out.

He said: "I had a moment this morning, I don't know if you can see but I missed with the brush."

As Susanna commented he'd "painted his temples", he replied: "I've basically painted my greying temples orange, which looks like one of those ghastly hair dyes that people do. Bright tangerine orange here."

Susanna quipped: "No one's gonna criticise you in the circumstances", with Piers adding: "It's not easy, it's a struggle."

The GMB team were clearly amused, displaying an image of a tangerine on the screen beside Piers' face.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
