Piers Morgan stuns Carol Vorderman by revealing Welsh connection during Twitter exchange

Piers Morgan has revealed his connection to Wales during a Twitter exchange with Carol Vorderman.

The Countdown star reached out to the former Good Morning Britain presenter to comment on his "good Welsh spelling" after he congratulated Wales for their 2-0 win against Turkey yesterday in the Euro 2020 tournament. You can read what Wales' win means for knockouts qualification here.

Praising the Welsh team's "brilliant win", Piers tweeted: "Llongyfarchiadau!"

Carol, who grew up in Prestatyn, responded: "Good Welsh spelling there boy."

The outspoken presenter simply responded by saying "diolch."

Surpised by Piers' knowledge of the Welsh language, Carol posted a message to her Twitter followers, which read: "The boy's learning Welsh now. Da iawn @piersmorgan. Something I never thought I'd write."

This led Piers to explain his connection to Wales, telling the former I'm A Celebrity contestant "My dad is Welsh".

Shocked, Carol replied: "Piers....these are things I never knew about you...and I thought after all these years I knew most of it.

"Clue is in the name I guess....Morgan. Give your Dad a cwtch from me."

Celebrating his dad's birthday last month, Piers shared a picture on Instagram and captioned it: "Happy 80th Birthday to my Dad... a great man who taught me the two golden rules in life: 1) Always be polite to police officers and 2) Always drink the best French wine you can afford.

"Sadly, for him, he forgot the third one... Never let your son grow up to be an Arsenal fan if you support Spurs."
