Piers Morgan snapped at Good Morning Britain's producers in his ear, pointing out that he had been there for five years and didn't need "presenting by numbers".
The 55-year-old presenter admitted that the "tension is mounting" in the studio after he his five-day appearance on set for the first time ever.
After the break, his co-host Susanna Reid reprimanded him and questioned: "What did you just say, Piers Morgan?!"
Piers fumed: "Some people in my ear going 'here's what you do', it's almost presenting by numbers!
"'If you can do this, do this...' - no!"
Susanna exclaimed: "They're trying to direct a show!"
"I've nearly been here five years," Piers seethed.
"Yeah, but you've never been here on a Friday though!" Susanna pointed out.
Piers replied: "No, and the tension is mounting this week."
Piers and Susanna have been appearing on the show all week for the US presidential election, but some viewers were left confused that he was on the show today.

While another commented: "Why are Piers and Susanna on a Friday. ? #GMB."
