Piers Morgan slams Victoria Beckham in rant over furlough as Susanna Reid tries to defend her

Piers Morgan has slammed Victoria Beckham in a furious rant after learning that the fashion designer had furloughed her staff over the weekend.

Always outspoken Good Morning Britain host Piers reacted angrily to the news that the former Spice Girl was was using the government aid scheme, despite their family being worth in excess of £340million.

Calling her fashion brand " a failing vanity project," Piers ranted: "How nice it was at the weekend, with all the selfless acts, to hear Victoria Beckham is furloughing 30 staff of her failing business.

"Lost money year after year. Been bailed out by her famously rich husband David Beckham."

He added: "Sorry, this furlough scheme was not for prima donna millionaires like you. Running a vanity project like her fashion business that makes no money."

Piers' co-host Susanna Reid stepped in to try and defend Victoria, telling him that Victoria is reportedly forgoing her own salary and donating to food banks and asking why he was singling out the Beckhams in his outburst.

But Piers hit back: "You the taxpayer are now funding a loss making vanity project for David and Victoria Beckham. Do you feel good about that?"

Susanna added: "I wonder whether it personal against Victoria Beckham rather than a British business."

GMB viewers were torn on who they agreed with. Firmly on Team Piers, one tweeted: "Once again we’ll done to Piers for saying what the whole nation thinks.... Shame on Victoria Beckham Shame on her.," but another reacted: "Does Victoria Beckham’s company pay taxes? If so, she is entitled to furlough staff. You shouldn’t be singling people out."
