Piers Morgan has hit out at the Duchess of Sussex accusing her of going 'missing in action' during President Donald Trump's state visit.
The 54-year-old Good Morning Britain presenter has slated the new mum for 'snubbing her president' and described her actions as "selfish".
The Duchess of Sussex had previously been described as being "nasty" in a tweet from Trump after she decided not to attend the state banquet or any of the D-Day celebrations during his visit to the UK.
The official line from the palace was that she was on maternity leave, looking after Archie Harrison, but Piers wasn't buying that and said that Meghan was 'deliberately avoiding' Trump.
Morgan took aim at the royal in his MailOnline column, in which he described Meghan's actions as "unacceptable".
Piers wrote: “I’m sorry, but bunking off at home is simply not an option for ANY senior member of the Royal Family.
“By doing so, she was not just giving the metaphorical bird to Trump, as she would have most definitely wanted to do, she was giving it to his host the Queen, her country who he is representing and the country whom she now represents.”
Piers also slammed Meghan for not being a part of the D-Day commemorations and took her to task for 'putting her personal beliefs' ahead of all else.
He believes this was exasperated by the Duchess then attending Trooping the Colour on Saturday.
Piers continued: “I’ve got news for you Ms Markle: you’re in the firm now, and that means doing your duty when it is required.
“By staying at home, then turning up all bright and cheerful the moment Trump left, she displayed a woefully selfish disregard for royal duty.”
Meghan had previously pledged to support Trump's rival, Hilary Clinton, during the 2016 presidential campaign, in which she accused Trump of being “misogynistic” and “divisive”.
