Piers Morgan slams Matt Hancock for 'sneaking' onto ITV now he's on holiday

Piers Morgan has made a savage dig at Matt Hancock after the Health Secretary's shock appearance on Lorraine on Wednesday.

The outspoken Good Morning Britain host has had a number of memorable clashes with Hancock during lockdown, before the Government started to boycott the show.

That didn't stop Piers' crusade against him though, with him taking aim at the Health Secretary over a whole host of issues from care homes to testing, while never getting another chance to hold him account on air.

So it was a surprise for everyone, particularly current GMB hosts Ben Shephard and Charlotte Hawkins, when Lorraine Kelly revealed that Hancock would be joining her for a chat.

And it didn't go un-noticed by viewers or Piers himself that Hancock made his appearance days after Piers went on a break from the show and jetted out of the country.

Piers tweeted: "Awww, look who sneaked back onto ITV the moment I left the country. ⁦.. it’s our fearless Health Secretary ⁦ @MattHancock."

Not letting it lie, Piers then posted a clip of a video of one of his interviews with Hancock, captioning it: "This is how @MattHancock should be challenged in every interview he does. He's the Health Secretary who's presided over a public health disaster that's so far cost nearly 70,000 deaths. Don't let him off the hook."

One viewer agreed with Piers, tweeting: "Matt Hancock running scared of Piers Morgan."

But others said they were glad it was Lorraine who conducted the interview, with another responding: "He can now have a decent interview with a calm professional, the issue was YOU Piers, not Matt.Well done @GMB the penny has dropped, good work," and a third posted: "He gave an interview to a Professional Journalist from ITV, ie Lorraine Kelly...who asked him some very good questions and THEN allowed him to answer them without interruption.Well done Lorraine, it was a good interview.
