Piers Morgan SLAMS Little Mix for getting naked: 'They're using sex to sell records'

Piers Morgan has slammed Little Mix’s message of “female empowerment,” accusing the girl group of using sex to sell music.

The outspoken presenter, 53, targeted Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirwall in the wake of the release of their new single Strip.

The girls stripped off and covered themselves in the insulting remarks they have faced throughout their career in a bid to inspire young people to feel confident in themselves.

Morgan slammed their message, claiming they are simply using “nudity” to shift singles.

“Oh god these people,” he said on kicking off Monday’s Good Morning Britain. “What is empowering about this? I mean seriously – get your kit off, airbrush yourself to within one inch of your lives and put a bunch of horrible words on yourself.

“What’s the point of it other than using nudity to sell albums? It’s stripping off to sell records. It’s using sex to sell records – that’s it there’s nothing else to that. I don’t get it.”

He then turned his attention to Emily Ratajkowski who he has previously criticised over her claims stripping off is a form of empowerment.

“I’ve got no problem with looking at her with no clothes on she’s a very beautiful girl,” he said. “My problem is when she tries to frame all of this as something empowering.”

Susanna Reid attempted to embarrass her co-host, reminding him of the time he ‘stripped off’ to front an advert for Burger King.

Morgan quipped: “I used my naked body – no one has ever called that a sexual act.”

Fans heaped praise on Little Mix after they dropped the Rankin-shot video on Friday evening with many claiming they had been inspired by the girls’ message.

Their new album LM5 was penned in a bid to instil body confidence in their fans, with Edwards telling ASOS magazine: “Things like Instagram or magazine covers are a tiny percentage of a lifestyle that people want you to see, it's never the whole picture. I think now more than ever the world needs an album like LM5.

“We're gonna keep f****** preaching until it sinks in – we want to empower women and ourselves.”
