Piers Morgan slams Lady Gaga's House of Gucci as he storms out of cinema on date night

Piers Morgan has said that he so unimpressed by Lady Gaga 's "dreadful" new film House of Gucci that he and wife Celia Walden "walked out" in the middle of a screening.

The 56-year-old shared his review of the film - which is inspired by a true story - on social media last night after he saw some of it on a date night with his Celia, 46.

The former Good Morning Britain host said he attended a screening of the biographical crime film - which is directed by Ridley Scott and aso stars Adam Driver and Al Pacino - at a "lavish" cinema in London yesterday.

The couple - who have a 10-year-old daughter, Elise Morgan, together - however are said to have left around half-way through because it was "dreadful" and "so bad."

In a post on Twitter last night, in which he included the film's poster, he wrote: "Walked out of this movie tonight after 80 minutes. It's jaw-droppingly dreadful."

This suggests that the couple - who are both journalists - only made it through around half of House of Gucci as it's understood to have a run time of 2 hours and 38 minutes.

Piers further commented on the film in a post on Instagram last night, in which he shared a masked selfie of himself and Celia - whom he married in 2010 - from their evening.

He said that their recent date night was "Covid-style" and the positives included being in a "quiet, very lavish" cinema.

The journalist added that another positive was that he could "slightly taste the wine" that he had ordered - with Piers having previously stating that he's suffered from reduced taste after catching Covid-19 earlier this year.

The former newspaper editor however then commented on the film itself in the post, writing: "On a negative note, House of Gucci was so bad we left half-way through."

And although he wasn't impressed with House of Gucci, a number of his followers felt differently and shared their appreciation for the film - which was released last month.

The film explores the relationship between Patrizia Reggiani (Lady Gaga) and Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver) as it becomes a fight for control of fashion brand Gucci.

A synopsis teases that when "outsider" Patrizia marries into the family her ambition begins to "unravel the family legacy," adding that this "triggers a reckless spiral of betrayal, decadence, revenge, and ultimately murder."

House of Gucci - which also stars the likes of Al Pacino and Salma Hayek - is currently in cinemas nationwide.
