Piers Morgan slams 'disgraceful' Matt Hancock for denying GMB fans 'life-saving' advice

Piers Morgan apologised to Good Morning Britain viewers on Tuesday, as he blasted "disgraceful" Matt Hancock for boycotting the show.

He and co-host Susanna Reid confirmed that government ministers were declining to appear on the ITV show following a number of on-air clashes, and "train wreck" interviews.

Piers noted that Health Secretary Matt was appearing on other shows all morning, including rival show BBC Breakfast.

GMB host Piers claimed by refusing to appear, he was denying the viewers potentially life-saving information.

He told those watching: "You are not worthy of the Health Secretary's potentially life-saving information, guidance advisory, clarification.

"This morning he's gonna go on every other show so their viewers and listeners will have that information during the biggest health emergency this country has faced in my lifetime.

"I think it's shameful and completely wrong."

He then explained the boycott happened due to "extremely poor and junior ministers" appearing on the show and leaving him "angry and annoyed".

He went on: "Our punishment for asking difficult questions and holding the government accountable, Matt Hancock is now boycotting the programme, as is every government minister and the prime minister.

"It is a disgraceful way to treat you, the viewers, we can only apologise. It's been going on for 10 days now."

He repeated: "They did all this before, just after the election."

Piers continued to hit out at the situation, sharing his "anger" for the viewers.

He told fans: "They don't think your lives matter, they have information that's really important but they don't want to tell you.

"I think it's an absolute disgrace."

Piers went on: "Is it fair the government is boycotting a morning news programme and not giving information that could save lives?"

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
