Piers Morgan slams Ant & Dec in scathing on-air rant against National Television Awards

Never a man to bite his tongue, Piers Morgan has taken aim at Ant & Dec once again in a scathing rant live on Wednesday's Good Morning Britain, where he also had a huge dig at Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.

After the Geordie duo won the National Television Award for Best Presenter for the 18th year in a row last year, Piers was left fuming, saying that after not being on TV for nearly a year Ant didn't deserve it.

He raged "Come on! How did you get a nom? I'm sorry but how did that happen? Dec? Sure he's put a shift in."

And, clearly still  angry about last year's ceremony and the fact that Good Morning Britain again lost out to This Morning in their category, Piers claims he will boycott , in an outburst you can watch in the video above.

The rant came the morning after a National Television Awards special aired on ITV, marking 25 years of the annual event and featuring winners like Ant & Dec, who spoke about their continuing habit of taking home trophies on the night.

He vented "There was a celebration last night of 25 years of the NTAs. Why bother? It’s literally groundhog day. Ant and Dec, Ant and Dec, Ant and Dec, Ant and Dec.

“Even when Ant had the year off walking his dog he got an award. It’s ridiculous.”

He also had a go This Morning presenters Holly and Phil, hinting that he thinks their acceptance speeches are far from sincere.

He mocked: “Holly and Phil go, what, us? Us? Little old us? For the 55th consecutive year? Oh!

“Then they do the old, we’re one big happy family at ITV, when everyone knows we’re a seething hot bed of backstabbing liars, charlatans, drunkards. They know who they are."

On the subject of whether they feel bad for always winning, Ant & Dec said: "For a millisecond we feel bad. Rarely do we feel bad for the others. It’s dog eat dog in the entertainment world!"
