Piers Morgan has sent a heartfelt message to his Good Morning Britain colleague Kate Garraway as her husband 'fights for his life' against coronavirus.
It was revealed on Friday that Kate's other half, former Labour adviser Derek Draper, 52, was in intensive care and she wasn't allowed to visit him because of the strict rules around coronavirus patients in hospitals.
"This is a desperate situation for Kate who is sick with worry about Derek's health," a source told the Sun.
“He is intensive care battling coronavirus and for obvious reasons she is beside herself."
"Kate has symptoms herself too but they are mild so she is self-isolating at home with the kids.
"She is obviously off TV too. Everyone at GMB is so worried for her."
And speaking on Wednesday's Good Morning Britain, Piers sent his wishes to Kate and her family, saying: "Everyone is getting touched by this, I know a number of people now who have been touched by this.
"Some very sad ways, sadly loved ones have lost their fight, and others are still fighting.
"We should mention again our love and thoughts are with Kate Garraway, our colleague whose husband Derek has been very seriously ill with coronavirus.
We continue to wish him all the very best as Derek fights, and everybody else out there we know there are thousands of people like the prime minister and like Derek, like others, who are fighting for their lives and we wish them the very best."
