Piers Morgan sends Gazza steaks after guilt over burglary 'tip off'

Piers Morgan has promised to send Paul Gascoigne the bizarre gift of a dozen steaks after feeling guilty over a tweet which police believe may have been the trigger for the burglary on the football legend's home.

Gazza's house was burgled as he appeared as a guest on Piers' show Life Stories in an episode starring Vinnie Jones. And police investigating suspect Piers may have unwittingly tipped off the culprits with a tweet about Gazza.

Piers took to his account to post: "Great to see Gazza in the Life Stories audience today, supporting his old nut-cracking mate @thevinniejones," before thieves targeted the former England, Spurs and Rangers star's flat in Dorset.

The £140,000 raid on Gazza's home saw thieves make off with five watches, two bracelets, three rings, some diamond earrings, designer sunglasses and a New York Police Department badge.

Appearing on Monday's Good Morning, Gazza choked up as he revealed his heartbreak at a watch belonging to his late dad being taken in the burglary, urging the thieves responsible to return it.

The burglars also made off steaks from the now 53-year-old's fridge and it was that particular theft that sparked Piers' unexpected gift.

Speaking to Gazza on air about the stolen watch, Piers told him: "Paul, I can't bring that back for you yet although hopefully we can bring it some attention.

"What I can give you are some steaks. I've got a dozen steaks here ... we're not going to send you these, they've been out for a bit, but what we are going to do is find out what your favourite... you like fillet steaks?

"I'm going to get you a dozen of the best fillet steaks ... and we'll get you those and at the very least you'll get your steaks back."
