Piers Morgan screams at PETA activist for wanting the word 'pet' banned

Piers Morgan nearly popped a vein while arguing with a PETA spokesperson after she said that the word 'pet" should no longer be used.

The Good Morning Britain presenter, 54, lashed out after PETA's senior media officer Jennifer White claimed that using the word "pet" suggested that they were "inanimate objects".

Piers furiously retorted: "So what are you changing the name of your organisation to?"

Jennifer laughed: "It's an acronym. We're not planning on changing it."

"It's got pet in it," Piers pointed out. "It's literally called PETA."

She insisted that the presenter was "missing the point" however he said that he was "on point".

Piers then began to bring up the list of idioms PETA also suggested weren't used and potential alternatives.

This included "bring home the bagels" instead of "bacon" and "feed two birds with one scone" instead of "kill two birds with one stone".

However Piers was particularly vexed by the alternative for "take the bull by the thorns", which was "take the flower by the thorns".

"Why do you want to wrench the flower out of the bed?!" Piers exclaimed.

He added as Jennifer smiled: "You can't stop laughing because you know how ridiculous it is."

As Piers slammed PETA for hating the word pet, claiming that they didn't know the origin of the word which as Gaelic and meant "tame animals", Jennifer hit back.

"We don't hate the word pet, w encourage the use of another alternative word," she responded. "We're suggesting the word companion

At the end of the interview, Piers appeared to apologise for his outburst, but joked: "I'm sorry if I was pig headed ."
