Piers Morgan says 'woke brigade' will be 'cancelled' in years to come

Piers Morgan has warned that the "woke brigade" will be "cancelled" in 50 years' time.

The controversial presenter, 56, who quit Good Morning Britain back in March, made the revelation in an interview with 60 Minutes Australia.

In the chat, Piers revealed he "refuses" to be "cancelled" and shared how he thinks the origin of the term woke started out "well-intentioned", but he believes it has become "hi-jacked by extremely illiberal people".

"Woke" is described as having awareness to be awake to racial and social injustice.

Issuing a warning to "cancellers", he said: "Here's what I say to the woke brigade. Right now, what's happening right now, will be considered inappropriate in 50 years' time.

"You'll all get cancelled. You won't have been nearly good enough or virtuous enough for the woke brigade in 50 years' time."

The TV star further added: "That's what they don't realise, is that once you start this process, everything becomes problematic. Everything becomes something that has to be cancelled."

Elsewhere in the interview, Piers blamed Meghan Markle for his Good Morning Britain exit and labelled her a "liar".

He resigned from the ITV breakfast show in recent months after he claimed he didn't believe all of the claims made by the Duchess of Sussex in a TV interview with Oprah Winfrey.

"I didn't know this at the time but Meghan Markle had complained to my boss at ITV on the Monday night," Piers continued.

"It was demanded I apologise for disbelieving her otherwise I would have to vacate my chair.

"I thought there was hypocrisy, I thought there were downright lies coming out in the interview.

"I saw my job to hold them to account like I would to a government minister and for doing that, within 36 hours I had to leave the job."

The weekly news show, presented by journalist Karl Stefanovic, also saw Piers label the pregnant former actress a "liar".

He added: "You're not allowed to have strong opinions about things, you're not allowed to disbelieve a liar like Meghan Markle.

"I'm sorry to call her that but she tells lies. We've demonstrated and proven that."
