Piers Morgan says sunbathers are "selfish reckless b****rds" in furious rant

Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan has branded sunbathers "reckless b****rds" in a furious Twitter rant.

With many places in the UK set to see the hottest day of the year so far on Sunday, many people will be looking to get out in the sun, with most of us doing so while still abiding by the Government's social distancing rules, by either taking in some rays while going for a walk or by chilling out in the garden, but there will be some people who flout guidelines and go further afield.

On the first weekend of lockdown there were shocking pictures of people flocking to the beach and coastal resorts to enjoy the warm weather and clearly not staying the advised two metres away from other people.

Such actions have since led to the closure of car parks at a number of coastal destinations, including a number in the North East, to deter people from breaking rules.

But, judging by images shared on social media on Saturday, some people STILL aren't listening to the Government's rules put in place to try and stop the spread of coronavirus.

And outspoken GMB presenter Piers has a clear message for them. Taking to Twitter on Sunday, to quote Health Secretary Matt Hancock, he ranted: "‘Sunbathing is against the rules that have been set out for important public health reasons.. to save lives & help the NHS.’ - Health Secretary @MattHancock

"This could not be any clearer. If you go out today to sunbathe, you are a selfish, reckless b*stard."

One follower replied: "Saw this just before your tweet, the message is clear as a bell. Why do people think it doesn't apply to them?" and another responed: "People still going out defeats the object of us nurses going to work...as fast we are trying to save people who are really sick more are just coming in to ITU. People need to listen and stay at home and let us try to get on top of this madness! Selfish doesn’t cover it.

But others told Piers he needed to be more specific with his point, with one reacting: "What about sunbathing in your back garden mate? I’m away from the world, surely allowed?" and another tweeting: "You missed out the “in a public place” bit here piers, you’re making it sound like people cannot sunbathe in their own gardens."
