Piers Morgan says row with Alex Beresford was 'real' after fans accused him of faking

Piers Morgan revealed the on-screen clash with Alex Beresford was "real" after he stormed off Good Morning Britain.

Speculation was rife the row which broke out on TV was "faked" by the presenters.

Yet the outspoken presenter, 55, had no qualms admitting his spat was "real" when he tweeted to his following.

All was forgiven as Piers was convinced the "very strong" debate which followed was worth their tiff.

He wrote: "No, it was real. But the debate that followed was very strong, so worth a bit of @GMB family tension."

Admittedly Piers said the reason why he had walked off was because he didn't want to listen to his co-stars calling his behaviour "diabolical" while defending Meghan.

He added: "Sure. I just prefer not to sit there listening to colleagues call me diabolical."

Among the sea of comments, he responded to one fan who said: "So @alexberesfordTV defends Meghan on @gmb and criticises @piersmorgan for what he’d said about Meghan’s mental health. Piers walks off the set. Surely Piers knows if you give it, you gotta be able to take it?"

Alex also spoke out about the clash, telling his social media followers: "I wish I had the privilege to sit on the fence. In order for me to do that I would have to strip myself of my identity and that’s not something I can do. It’s not any of our places to pick apart claims of racism in order to make us to feel more comfortable."

Alex slammed Piers as "diabolical" for his Meghan rants sparking his co-star to walk off set mid-air.

Piers said: "OK, I'm done with this." Walking off, he said: "Sorry, no... sorry, can't do this..."

Tension cut through the atmosphere when Alex jumped in to defend Meghan from Piers' commentary.

He said: "And I understand that you don't like Meghan Markle, you've made it so clear a number of times on this programme...

"And I understand you've got a personal relationship with Meghan Markle or had one and she cut you off.

"She's entitled to cut you off if she wants to. Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? I don't think she has but yet you continue to trash her..."

Piers set the record straight after he was accused of pulling off a "ratings stunt off".

Others wrote: "That whole #GMB situation was definitely a ratings stunt off the back of *that* interview! Bravo! @GMB @piersmorgan."

"Piers Morgan (ERGH I'M SPEAKING ABOUT HIM AGAIN) walking off stage thing is as fake and staged as it gets. Let's now draw a line and stop speaking about him. His plan is working because we're always talking about him."

"Piers walking off set. It’ll get clicks, seems a bit fake to me."
