Piers Morgan says Matt Hancock has 'lost his marbles' over lockdown claims

Piers Morgan has once again hit out at Matt Hancock, this time over the Health Secretary's suggestions about when lockdown started.

Piers' take down comes in the wake of the Hancock being accused "ludicrous rewriting of history" after he tried to claim it was wrong to say lockdown was imposed on a particular date.

Last week, the Health Secretary told MPs that lockdown started on March 16 when, in fact, it was the evening of Monday, March 23 when Prime Minister Boris Johnson broadcast to the nation about the strict rules coming into force as coronavirus spread and pubs, bars and restaurants weren't forced to shut their doors until close of play on Friday, March 20.

However, he has since said: "the idea that lockdown as a date is wrong because what matters epidemiologically is the behaviour of people....you saw that people were going about their business less and less."

On hearing this, Piers, currently on holiday from Good Morning Britain, took to Twitter to rant: "I genuinely think @MattHancock is losing his marbles. This is ridiculous."

Matt Hancock addresses boycott of Good Morning Britain

Piers and Hancock had a number of run-ins during lockdown, with one heated clash on GMB prompting the Health Secretary to boycott the show.

He did however make a shock appearance on Lorraine last week, which prompted another jibe from outspoken host Piers, who tweeted: "Awww, look who sneaked back onto ITV the moment I left the country. ⁦.. it’s our fearless Health Secretary ⁦ @MattHancock."
