Piers Morgan says Kate Garraway's husband is 'fighting for his life' in stark warning about lockdown

Piers Morgan has revealed that Kate Garraway's husband is 'fighting for his life' as he continues to battle against coronavirus.

It was revealed at the start of last month that Kate's other half, former Labour MP Derek Draper, was in intensive care after contracting COVID-19.

Since then a number of Kate's Good Morning Britain co-hosts have given viewers updates on his condition, with Ben Shephard telling them that Derek was in a coma and then Lorraine Kelly just days ago revealing: "As far as we know he's not getting any worse, he's stable; so while that's happening there is hope."

And now Piers has spoken about Derek's condition. Warning Brits to stick to lockdown rules over the Bank Holiday weekend following Boris Johnson's announcement, whatever it may be, Piers tweeted: "I wonder if those most complacent about this virus are the ones least personally touched by it?

"A great friend of mine lost her mother to it, a cousin lost his dad, another great friend's mum narrowly survived, and my colleague @kategarraway's husband is fighting for his life."

This week Piers himself was tested for coronavirus, after displaying symptoms "not normally associated" with COVID-19.

The test came back negative but Piers is yet to return to his Good Morning Britain hosting duties.
