Piers Morgan says Kate Garraway is going through 'living hell' as husband Derek battles coronavirus

Piers Morgan says Kate Garraway is 'going through living hell' as her husband remains in intensive care battling coronavirus.

It was back at the end of March that it was first revealed that Kate's other half, former Labour aide Derek Draper, had been struck down by COVID-19 and has now been in a coma for weeks, with Kate and other family members unable to visit him.

Speaking on Monday's Good Morning Britain, Kate's Good Morning Britain co-host Piers told millions of viewers watching at home: "Piers said: "We haven't talked about it much because Kate Garraway is going through a living hell like many people.

"Her husband has been in a very serious condition for many many weeks.

"We can all just hope and pray he comes through it, but it's been very, very difficult for Kate and her family.

"We miss her here at the show, but obviously we stay in touch with her a lot.

"We send her and the kids all our love and we just wish Derek all the very best."

It comes days after Kate herself shared news on Derek after last Thursday's Clap for Carers. She posted: "We still clapped & cheered as much as ever but I couldn't film on my phone as had Derek on FaceTime throughout! - of course we can't KNOW but I believe he can hear us & thought at least the incredible @nhs team's looking after him would hear a fraction of our gratitude."
