Piers Morgan says trolls threatened to murder him in front of kids over Meghan criticism

Piers Morgan says internet trolls threatened to murder him in front of his children after he spoke out against Meghan Markle.

The former GMB presenter said he experienced a "social media pile-on" after his rant over the Duchess of Sussex's Oprah Winfrey interview.

He has also said that police are investigating a particular threat made to him and his oldest son Spencer last month.

Speaking out in a length column for the Daily Mail, Piers said that his family were also targeted by vile trolls and despicable threats.

The 54-year-old said: "My three sons told me they too are all being targeted, and sent me screenshots of venomous abuse and threats of violence towards them, which made my stomach churn, especially as police are already investigating a death threat made to me and my eldest boy Spencer last month."

Piers added that his son's don't agree with his views on Meghan Markle and have little interest in the debate surrounding Piers' views, but they are still being targeted online and he says they have been found "guilty by association."

In one of the worst threats his family has received, Piers said: "One troll vowed to murder me in front of them, and added: 'When your dad dies, the world will have a party.'"

After he dramatically walked off the Good Morning Britain set and quit the ITV morning show, Piers said there was a "dramatic change in mood" and that has sons had been bombarded with support.

He said that Spencer told him: "'Getting loads like this.

"'So gutted your dad's left GMB. I am actually crying.

"I suffer from depression and your dad makes me laugh every single Mon/Tues/Weds morning."

Piers' latest article came over two weeks after he dramatically stormed off GMB before later announcing that he had quit the show.

It came after an investigation was launched against ITV and the outspoken presenter after some 57,121 OfCom complaints flooded in following his criticism of Harry and Meghan.

Since leaving the show, he has continued to scornfully take aim at Meghan and expressed doubt over the veracity of her claims.
