Piers Morgan says he won't be working on GMB after taking coronavirus test

Controversial Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan is awaiting the results of a coronavirus test after exhibiting mild symptoms.

The 55-year-old presenter says he won't be appearing on the daily ITV show as a precaution until he gets the result back. Writing on his Twitter account on Sunday, Morgan said: "On medical advice, and out of an abundance of caution for a mild symptom that arose in the past 48 hours, I've had a test for Covid-19 and so won't be working on GMB until I get the result back, which should be tomorrow."

Morgan has been critical of the UK Government's handling of the virus and has scrutinised a number of ministers on GMB.

While discussing coronavirus survival rates in hospitals with Dr Hilary, Morgan was left visibly shaken. He said: "It's quite important to talk about the death toll a lot - and rightly because people have been losing their lives in large numbers.

"What is the survival rate? People are saying we don't see many people coming out of hospital. What is the reality, in hospitals for example?"

Piers Morgan visibly upset as Dr. Hilary reveals stark reality of covid survival rates

Dr Hilary replied: "Okay, this will shock some people but currently, of those most severely affected by coronavirus and who are admitted to hospital, half of them will recover and discharged but 30% will lose their lives and the other 20% are still in hospital.

"So that's stark and those figures have been compared to the mortality rate of Ebola, one of the most feared infections in the world in the last few years. That's why we have to take this so very seriously."
