Piers Morgan says he's 'slowly coming out the other side' as he battles Covid

Piers Morgan says he is still feeling the effects of Covid days after being given the all clear after he contracted the deadly virus at the Euro Cup games in London.

The 56-year-old shared details of his Covid battle over the weekend as he urged others to take up the offer of the life-saving vaccine which helped him battle the virus.

Piers – who was doubled vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine, which he says saved his life from the virus – spent 10 days recovering, and wrote about his experiences in the Mail on Sunday where he described being struck down with fever, cold sweats, coughing, sneezing fits, and aches across his body.

The former Good Morning Britain host encouraged others to get the vaccine – as reports suggest a ‘third wave’ of Covid is being successfully held back in the UK due to the vaccine roll back.

Piers gave an updated on his own Covid recovery as well as sharing an appeal from a fellow celeb who was urging fans to get vaccinated.

Piers re-tweeted a message shared by Seth MacFarlane who wrote: “Per the WHO and common sense: The longer people around the world remain unvaccinated, the higher the risk of a more dangerous variant emerging.

“You may think your vaccination status is a ‘personal choice’, but it affects the safety of everyone. Do the right thing. Get your shot.”

A follower then asked Piers how his own Covid battle was going, and he replied that he was finally on the mend.

Piers replied: “Thanks Mike, slowly coming out the other side now…”

In his own report of his health struggles, Piers theorised he contracted Covid at the England v Italy 2020 UEFA European Championship final in London on July 11.

He wrote: “This is definitely the roughest I've felt from any illness in my adult life, BUT, as I slowly come out the other side, coughing and spluttering.

“I’m still here – unlike so many millions around the world who've lost their lives to Covid in this pandemic.

“For that, I owe a heartfelt debt of thanks to the brilliant scientists up in Oxford who created the Astra-Zeneca vaccine with such astonishing speed.”

Piers has received widespread support and sympathy from followers on social media who are encouraged to see him in recovery – and for the fact he is urging others to get vaccinated.

Some fans have highlighted that Piers often blasts members of the public for attending crowded events due to Covid risks – only to then attend the Euro Cup final himself.

Former GMB co-host Susanna Reid also came under fire for attending the Euro Cup final without a face mask when she ordinarily keeps a strict view of Covid rules and regulations.

However, health and safety measures were in place at the Euro cup games and fans were only allowed entry to the football match itself with proof of a negative Covid-19 test or proof of full vaccination.
