Piers Morgan says he's getting the Covid vaccine as soon as he's allowed

Piers Morgan has told fans he's going to be getting the Covid vaccine as soon as he's allowed.

Asked by a fan: "When are you getting your vaccine Piers," he replied on Twitter : "As soon as I am allowed one.

"And I urge everyone to do the same. Only way out of this."

While the Good Morning Britain anchor is clearly keen to get the life-saving jab, he is likely to be low priority from a medical point of view.

At 55, he is far younger than the over 80s target group and is not a frontline medical worker.

Piers has been outspoken in his efforts to get the public to do their bit to halt the spread of coronavirus.

But that didn't stop him briefly breaching mask guidelines - dubbing himself a "front page Moron" on Instagram when he realised his mistake.

Having spent 2020 reporting on the pandemic and hitting out at rule flouters as so-called 'covidiots', the host was awkwardly snapped hopping into a cab home following a date night sans mask last weekend.

His wife Celia donned a face covering but bolshy Piers appeared to go mask-free as he got into the taxi, later pulling one on.

And explaining what happened on Monday's instalment of GMB, the ITV name apologised for the moment of forgetfulness and joked that his mishap had helped out the paparazzi.

Piers told co-host Susanna Reid: "As I pulled away I realised what I had done - I had forgotten my mask."

Taking responsibility, after his mistake made the papers, he continued: "I do think masks matter and I got caught without one."
