Piers Morgan says GB gold medal winners deserve private jet treatment

Piers Morgan says British gold medallists deserve to fly home on private jets while those who failed to secure a medal at the Tokyo Olympics didn't.

This comes after author Christina Lamb shared a Twitter post today (Sunday, August 8), saying how shocked she was after hearing Swimmer Hannah Miley tell BBC Radio Four Broadcasting House, that GB gold medal winners turn left while those who did not win turned right before boarding return flights to the UK.

The post read: "Shocking to hear swimmer Hannah Miley tell on #R4broadcastinghouse that on plane returning home from #Olympics medal winners turn left while losers must turn right."

In response to this Piers Morgan tweeted: "Quite right too! I’d go further and fly Gold medal winners home on private jets… #motivational."

His comment enraged many Twitter users who were quick to pick apart his opinion.

One Twitter user, @JulyBird who disagreed with his comment said: "So their efforts and hard work leading up to the games mean nothing according to you. Shameful."

@mattrandall78 said: Oh really!! The gold medal winners should get the same privileges as the others that took part. They all did our country proud regardless. They've all trained hard at something they're good at and during a pandemic too. The only person that should "turn right" is you."

Another user @JT13RUH said: "I’d fly you home on a Boeing with no engine."

It's fair to say that Piers' views to many were uncalled for but one commenter jumped to his defence.

@i_mccullough said: "Of course. Let the bronze and silver turn left, and the gold head for the private jet."
