Piers Morgan says Cristiano Ronaldo will drop Lionel Messi bombshell in interview with Man United star

Piers Morgan has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo’s comments on Lionel Messi in their 90-minute interview will “make huge headlines”.

The initial portion of the sit-down will be broadcast on TalkTV at 8pm on Wednesday with the final part aired on Thursday at the same time. Clips of the interview that were first released on Sunday have stirred seismic controversy.

Accusations of betrayal have been levelled at United while Ronaldo says he has no respect for boss Erik ten Hag. He also took aim at the club’s lack of evolution, hitting out at the Glazers while also questioning the motives behind the criticism he has received from ex-teammate Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney.

The 37-year-old has also bravely spoken out about the death of his stillborn son in April, as well as the illness that surviving twin sister Bella had to endure over the summer, which saw him miss United’s pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia.

The next installment, according to Morgan, will include comments on superstar Lionel Messi. Both icons of the game have long been pitted against each other in the debate over which is the greatest of all-time, with Qatar likely to be both legends’ final World Cup as a player.

The pair have faced one another both on the pitch and off it, in El Clasico matches in Spain and in the race for Ballon d’Ors - of which Messi has seven and Ronaldo, five. The duo have also pushed for many ‘greatest’ records in their careers, namely regarding goal-scoring feats.

In a tweet ahead of the show airing, the TalkTV host wrote: "Lots of people asking if Ronaldo talks about Messi in my interview.. oh yes, and what he says will make huge headlines."

Messi and Ronaldo were seen chatting together at a Champions League draw in 2019, during which the latter said he would one day invite his counterpart for dinner. "Me and him have shared the stage for 15 years, I don't know if that’s ever happened in football,” Ronaldo said on the night.

"Of course we have a good relationship, we have not had a dinner together yet, but I hope so in the future."
