Piers Morgan's stinging comment about Giovanna Fletcher after suggestions she could 'replace him' on GMB

Piers Morgan had a stinging response to a suggestion Giovanna Fletcher could 'replace him' on Good Morning Britain.

The GMB host was alerted to a newspaper article in which the newly crowned I'm A Celebrity winner was tipped for more TV work.

Giovanna's brother Mario Falcone told The Sun his sister will now proceed to have a lucrative career in TV presenting following her success on the show, as well as already being a podcaster and author.

"She [Giovanna] has that warmth and she’s very engaging," Mario told the publication.

"I think people will like that positivity. If she's the first face you see in the morning on your TV, you're gonna have a good day.

"So I'd be very surprised if someone doesn't snap her up for presenting."

When pressed on what kinds of shows Giovanna would like to present, Mario suggested she become a host on the ITV news show currently fronted by Piers.

But maybe the controversial presenter didn't take it very well.

Sharing the article he tweeted: "Great idea. Who is she?"

Unless Piers has been living under a rock for the last three weeks, we assume he is using a bit of sarcasm on this one.

But it didn't stop Giovanna's fans defending her.

"Someone with more followers than you," replied one with screenshots of Giovanna and Piers' Instagram accounts.

Another raged: "She's a published author, has her own podcast and a programme on CBeebies! (Also has more followers across all social media platforms that you!) She has been on Loose Women and GMB! Show some respect you know exactly who she is!"

"Oh Piers. For once, your sass is actually ill thrown. She’s lovely. Although I wouldn't worry about your job. She’s probably got something else in mind," added a third.
