Piers Morgan's son Spencer 'escapes' Tier 4 by bolting to country home

Piers Morgan's son Spencer has shared his relief after he "escaped" London for the family's country home in Tier 2 Sussex.

The 27-year-old left the city ahead of strict new Tier 4 restrictions, bolting for Newick, where Piers and wife Celia Walden have a large second home complete with idyllic grounds and a swimming pool.

It is not know if Piers, who lectures Good Morning Britain viewers on a daily basis about sticking to coronavirus rules, joined Spencer.

However the father-of-four has previously hinted that the two might not be together this Christmas - sharing that he had exchanged gifts with his oldest son last week.

Spencer was unrepentant about fleeing London, sharing his anger about the "dictatorship" rules.

It comes after Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty asked Londoners to "unpack your bags" and not risk spreading a mutated variant of coronavirus to the rest of the country.

Referring to this, Spencer tweeted: "Why doesn’t he pack his and do one."

He then compared new tier rules to "North Korea" and added: "New strain about as believable as the Loch Ness monster. End the BS."

On Sunday Spencer shared images of the countryside and wrote: "On the plus side. Tier 2 ain't too bad."

During the first lockdown, Piers had said his parents were isolating at his Sussex home. He denied going to visit them in March, saying "I've abided by the rules".

Spencer, one of three sons from Piers' first marriage, has been one of many to butt heads with his dad over lockdown restrictions, others including Laurence Fox and Lord Alan Sugar.

While Piers has called for the government to maintain certain measures, Spencer has been vocal in pushing ministers to let things get back to normal.

Piers recently owned up to the fact that he'd been a "Covidiot" and briefly forgotten to put his mask on as he stepped into a taxi.

But Spencer questioned the impact of mask-wearing in the first place.

"Think I missed the part when the obsession with masks had any impact whatsoever," he wrote on Twitter
