Piers Morgan reveals he was left bed bound and unable to breathe as his appearance sparks concern

Piers Morgan returned to work on Monday after being left bound and 'unable to breathe; at the end of last week.

The Good Morning Britain host, who has only been absent twice during lockdown - once after he had a test for coronavirus and then for a half-term break, could well have been missing in action today after being struck down by a bad case of heat exhaustion.

And viewers watching the ITV show weren't convinced Piers was well enough to be at work, with one tweeting: " @piersmorgan you ok? You look ill on @GMB this morning Face bloated.. pinhead eyes.. faltering voice."

In agreement, another posted: "Is Mr Morgan ok ?? Looks very strange this morning... face extremely bloated... eyes pinpoint... wobbly voice... mouth and lips all over the place."

Responding to concerns, Piers revealed he had indeed been left unwell over the weekend, due to too much sun.

He explained: "Somebody else said Piers is unwell. I spent all weekend in bed with heat exhaustion, I was playing golf.

"I probably haven't completely recovered, but you know what? You dig deep and you battle on."

He added: "Couldn’t walk, couldn’t talk, couldn’t breathe. It was like a utopia for all my critics.

"Heat exhaustion is quite unpleasant, I’ve discovered."

Turning to GMB's resident health expert, Doctor Hilary Jones, Piers asked: " ‘I just slept it off. Was that the right thing to do?", to which Dr Hilary replied: "Yes, plenty of fluids."
