Piers Morgan's harsh words for Prince Harry as he 'backs' Thomas Markle after GMB interview

Piers Morgan has said he ‘feels sorry’ for Thomas Markle following his interview with the Duchess of Sussex’s father on Good Morning Britain.

The outspoken presenter gave his opinion about the rift between Meghan Markle and her dad - and had some harsh words for Prince Harry.

Piers, 54, mitigated Thomas’ recent headline-grabbing interviews, claiming that he is only trying to contact Meghan to try and put an end to their fall out.

Speaking to his co-host Susanna Reid, Piers - who has been critical of the royal couple since they announced they planned to 'step back' from their duties - appeared to back Thomas with his rant at the prince.

“I think it takes a heart of stone to not feel some sympathy for Thomas Markle,” he said. “He just feels this is the only way he can get a message to his daughter to try and end this.”

Piers then went on to rip into Harry for not doing the ‘right thing’.

“Harry should just go and see the guy. That’s what I would do,” he said. “I mean, he’s not going to listen to me for one second. But somebody should advise him, that he will listen to.

Thomas Markle says move will 'never work' for Harry and Meghan

“Get on a plane and go and see your father-in-law. You did marry the guy’s daughter. That does seem the least you can do to try and resolve this. If it doesn’t work, you’ve tried. But as long as you don’t try, I just don’t think that’s right.”

During his interview, Thomas admitted that he hopes to reconcile his differences with his daughter, calling it a “misunderstanding”.

Thomas said: "I'm still very disappointed. I think it's a misunderstanding that should be sorted out, not on TV or in front of the world.

"I’m not sure exactly how to approach this, I always hope we can come together at some point, however right now, what's going on with the break from the royals is gonna cause far more problems."

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
