Piers Morgan's Good Morning Britain colleagues hint he may not be able to return to show

Piers Morgan's Good Morning Britain co-stars have hinted that he may not return to Good Morning Britain as planned.

After causing controversy right through lockdown thanks to his clashes with Health Secretary Matt Hancock and heated interviews with the likes of Dizzee Rascal and Rudy Giuliani, the outspoken host is on a summer break, with co-presenter Susanna Reid also absent from our screens.

Piers jetted off to St Tropez a few weeks ago, uploading a picture of him wearing a mask on a plane, with the caption: "I’m a washed up, knackered, pathetic excuse for a celebrity - get me outta here. Bye Britain, it’s been... surreal."

Last week he shared the news that he had been left on crutches after tearing a tendon on the second day of his luxurious holiday.

And now GMB colleague Kate Garraway has hinted he may be out of action for longer than originally thought because of the current fears of a second wave of coronavirus in Europe and its impact on travel.

At the weekend, Spain was removed from the UK's safe travel list, meaning that any Brits on holiday there will need to quarantine for two weeks on their return home.

And then on Thursday, it was reported that airline Jet2 were telling Brits to cut their holidays short and get an earlier flight home or risk being stranded.

Dicussing how the travel chaos could impact Piers, Kate said: "Isn't Piers Morgan in France? Imagine [France] has to quarantine and he can't come back on air for an extra to two weeks?"

Sadly, that might be a reason to put it on the list," co-host Ben Shephard quipped. "...Some would say."

Their 'concerns' came just as Piers shared a picture of himself relaxing with his feet up and a pint, writing: "Sprained foot update: medicine kicking in nicely."
