Piers Morgan's GMB replacement still up in the air as Adil Ray continues as guest host

Good Morning Britain still haven't decided on a replacement for controversial host Piers Morgan.

Piers, 56, quit his role on the ITV breakfast show in March following a heated on air discussion with Alex Beresford regarding his comments about Meghan Markle.

The former journalist was very vocal about Meghan and Prince Harry's explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey earlier this year, and accused the US actress of lying.

On March 9, Piers announced he had quit GMB and Ofcom launched an investigation into the remarks Piers made about the Duchess of Sussex's mental health after receiving 41,015 complaints.

ITV have now released bumper schedule for this autumn and there's no new names on the GMB line-up.

Ever since Piers left the job, Susanna Reid has fronted the show alongside various guests hosts including Adil Ray, Richard Madeley and even Martin Lewis.

The ITV releases states that "the GMB family of presenters are back on screen together from this September".

It goes on to say that Susanna Reid, Ben Shephard, Kate Garraway, Adil Ray, Ranvir Singh, Charlotte Hawkins and Sean Fletcher, plus guest presenters, will take to the helm with all of the morning’s breaking news, the very best investigative journalism, robust debates and exclusive guests from the world of entertainment and sport.

Comedian Adil has probably been the most regular guest host since March, but he often divides opinion with GMB viewers.

ITV also confirmed that Laura Tobin and Alex Beresford will continue to appear on the programme with "the weather news and more".

December will also see the return of the show’s award-winning 1 Million Minutes campaign, which looks to tackle loneliness across the UK by encouraging viewers at home to donate minutes of their time within the local community.

Now in its sixth consecutive year, to date the social purpose campaign has seen over 238 million minutes donated.

The GMB line-up news comes after viewers urged Piers to return to the show earlier this week.

One fan tweeted: "Piers I would love for you to go back please. Had to put up with Richard Madeley and worst of all, Alistair campbell. Please go back to #GMB."

Another posted: "I wonder what #GMB would be like right now if you were on? A missed opportunity, Piers and I'm backing you here, which is unusual."

A third asked him on Twitter : "You coming back? When I heard about this book release,I was thinking piers should be the 1 on #GMB calling out the guy who wants privacy but makes money by attacking his own family," referring to the recent Prince Harry news.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
