Piers Morgan's GMB replacement confirmed as Sean Fletcher - who called Piers a snake

Piers Morgan will be replaced on Good Morning Britain this August by Sean Fletcher, 46, who has had previous on air beef with the controversial host.

Sean, who joined GMB as a sports newsreader for the first episode in April 2014, has made his feelings about Piers clear in the past.

In 2017, he claimed Susanna must know a lot about snakes because she works with one every day.

Piers was visibly fuming with the insult, which seemed to come out of nowhere from the usually mild-mannered Sean.

Sean now stands in for Charlotte Hawkins as the relief newsreader, and he spoke to Adil Ray and his co host Ranvir Sing on Thursday's show.

He was chatting about his new documentary, Sean Fletcher's Welsh Adventure, when Adil mentioned his upcoming stint hosting the show.

"Aren't you coming back here for a stint in August?" he asked.

"I think so, am I working alongside you Ranvir?" Sean replied. "I'm not sure, in August."

I am going to try to avoid that, I've asked the people that organise the rotas," joked Ranvir.

"I mean I like you, but not that much," she quipped, as they rang off.

It's not yet known if Piers' contract will be renewed (ITV)

Adil added: "It wasn't clear there, but I believe Sean is going to be main hosting as well.

"That's brilliant."

Father of two Sean has also presented Countryfile and ITV game show Rebound, as well as Sunday Morning Live.

He has also hosted Food Detectives alongside Tom Kerridge and Alice Roberts, and current affairs show Inside Out London where he replaced Matthew Wright.

Piers is taking the summer off, and has admitted that negotiations are "still ongoing" as to whether he will return next year.

He jetted off to holiday in Spain with his family but ended up on crutches after he tore his tendon on just the second day.

*Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays on ITV at 6am
