Piers Morgan’s feud with Rupert Everett after brutal dig at GMB host’s manhood

As anyone who has watched Good Morning Britain knows, Piers Morgan can be a difficult man to get along with.

And Rupert Everett made it clear where his feelings lay when he referred to the outspoken broadcaster as "slobby and elephantine" and even said he was "hung like a budgie" in a 2012 interview.

Tonight, viewers will watch as the actor buries the hatchet and even apologises to Piers, after joining him on the sofa for an episode of Life Stories.

But there was a time when Rupert made no secret of his animosity.

He and Piers are known to have clashed on a Comic Relief edition of The Apprentice back in 2007, which Rupert departed after a single day of filming.

Footage shows Piers attempting to get Rupert to open up his A-list address book, and call former co-stars such as Julia Roberts.

Eventually an anxious Rupert, clearly horrified by this plan, nervously tells Piers amid laughter from other contestants: "What if I left but left everyone my phone number. I don't know any of these people particularly well."

At the time it was reported Rupert felt he had come under attack from Piers.

Indeed Rupert later recalled: "Seeing Morgan and Alaister [Campbell] and Ross Kemp was like a flashback to me of exactly why I peeled off from the mainstream in life so very early."

His dislike didn't end there.

In September 2012 Rupert slammed Piers in a Guardian interview.

He told the publication: "To me, Piers Morgan was a person who reminded me exactly of all the people I was terrified of at school. I don’t like how he is. He takes it too seriously.

"He’s a killer. He’s pathological."

In an except from tonight's show, fans can watch as Piers reads the comments right back to Rupert.

Piers reads aloud: "He’s kind of slobby and elephantine."

He then laughs and adds: "It gets better, he then brought my wife into it."

The article continued: "But I can’t imagine him with poor Celia She’s gorgeous and very funny. I mean she deserves to be f***** by a God.

"I’ve always imagined him to be hung like a budgie underneath it all."

Sitting facing him, Rupert replied to Piers: "Yeah, well it’s just showing off. That’s the thing."

Never one to sidestep a confrontation, Piers replies: "This is your chance to show some repentance"

Rupert amenably answers: "I do repent. Wholeheartedly. Of course, I feel terrible.

"I mean, hung like a budgie was funny. I think."

Rupert then quipped self-depreciatingly: "I must say I find in these trousers, I look like I’m hung like a budgie."
