Piers Morgan's comments over Harry and Meghan sparks Ofcom probe after 41,000 complaints

An Ofcom investigation is under way following comments made by Piers Morgan about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The watchdog has so far received more than 41,000 complaints over his comments.

It comes as Piers announced on Tuesday eveing that he is quitting the show.

During Meghan and Harry's interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan claimed that at her lowest point she had suffered with suicidal thoughts.

The 39-year-old actress told Oprah that, at one stage, she "didn't want to be alive anymore".

However, Piers sparked outrage after claiming he "didn't believe a word" of it.

The divisive host has been a constant critic of Meghan in recent years.

His comments following the bombshell interview sparked a row between Piers and fellow GMB star Alex Beresford, who accused the former newspaper editor of being "way off the mark".

That spat, which also rumbled on Twitter, ended with the pair clashing again on Tuesday morning - and Piers storming off the set.

And on Tuesday evening, Buckingham Palac e finally issued a statement following the couple's claims, which included an allegation that an unnamed member of the Royal Family asked how dark their baby's skin colour would be.

"The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan," said a palace spokesperson.

"The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. Whilst some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.

"Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members."
