Piers Morgan's book Wake Up which slams cancel culture hits best seller list

Piers Morgan took to his Twitter today to announce some 'exciting news'.

The former Good Morning Britain presenter posted of a video of himself revealing that his book Wake Up, is a number one Sunday Times Best Seller.

The 56-year-old brought the book out in October last year but since his departure from the ITV show he has been promoting it in a bid to stamp out 'cancel culture'.

The non-fiction piece examines his fears surrounding a new form of liberalism that he feels is stifling free speech.

Last month, it was announced that Piers was leaving Good Morning Britain with immediate effect after he made comments about Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah Winfrey.

ITV announced Piers' sudden departure, saying: "Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain.

Speaking on his Twitter today, Piers said: "So I have a big announcement to make! I just got some very exciting news from my publishers Harper Collins, that the paperback of Wake Up is officially the number one Sunday Times Best Seller which is amazing so thank you all very much indeed to everyone who bought the book, if you haven't, what's keeping you?!"

He added: "But I really appreciate it, it says to me that the British public do care about free speech, they do care about the right to have an opinion and they don't want to have this cancel culture ruining our society and I'm just glad that, that's the way most people feel because it's important. So thank you, I really appreciate it so I'm going to celebrate with a nice bottle of something."

Fans were delighted for him.

One wrote: "Well done Piers. Now we just need you in no 10."

Another added: "Absolutely loved, loved, loved your book! Common sense at its finest. Read it in 2 days. Will there be a sequel?"

"So well deserved. Finished my copy this week. It’s absolutely brilliant," another commented.

While one said: "Wonderful news Mr Morgan congratulations. I only wish your exciting news was that you will be coming back to GMB."

Last week, the former newspaper editor took to social media to ask fans to buy his book and help "stick it to the cancel culture mob".

Posting a selfie video on his social media, Piers is sat in his study at home with copies of Wake Up on the shelf behind him.

Addressing his 7.9 million followers, Piers began: "Ok it’s gone midday, so I can tell you now that I’m not actually going back to Good Morning Britain, that was just a little April Fool’s Day but oh did I catch some big fish with this one, most amusing.

"It’s also the publication day for the paperback of my book Wake Up, which is a call for a defence of freedom of speech and the right to have an opinion and an end to this ridiculous cancel culture that is currently wrecking our society."
