Piers Morgan's bitter feud with Rupert Everett over 'hung like a budgie' jibe

Actor Rupert Everett and Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan have not always seen eye to eye.

The pair previously clashed on a Comic Relief edition of The Apprentice back in 2007, which Rupert departed after a single day of filming.

Rupert later hit out at Piers in an interview with The Guardian, going on to refer to him as a "killer" and "slobby and elephantine".

The actor also remarked of Piers' wife Celia Walden: "She's gorgeous and very funny. I mean, she deserves to be ****** by a god. "

Rupert then opined of Piers: "I've always imagined him to be hung like a budgie underneath it all."

Now, Piers, 55, has revealed in his Daily Mail column that the pair have buried the hatchet when filming a new episode of his interview show Life Stories.

Reuniting on September 25 for a tense meeting, Piers naturally addressed the actor's sassy remarks.

Piers writes that Rupert said: "Did I really say all that?"

The GMB notes that he responded in a stern tone, saying: "Yes, Rupert, you did!"

The journalist then pens: "He paused for several awkward seconds, staring at my faux-outraged face in intense contemplative silence, doubtless fearing he may have stumbled into a ghastly revenge trap, and then he burst out laughing and exclaimed: ‘I’m sorry!’"

As Piers also responded by laughing, the pair quickly got on with their interview, but not until after Piers mounted a defence to one of Rupert's old putdowns.

Arguing that Rupert was not "entirely wrong" with his remarks, Piers did say "Apart from the budgie bit, obviously."

The Good Morning Britain host went on to praise Rupert as a guest on the show and likened the actor to his hero, the beloved writer Oscar Wilde.

Piers described Rupert as "a fabulously intelligent, witty and fascinating guy."

The actor then went on to describe Piers when appearing on Loose Women as "lovely" when he conducts Life Stories instead of Good Morning Britain.

Good Morning Britain continues on weekday mornings on ITV, while Piers Morgan's Life Stories returns later this year on ITV.
