Chronicle Live reports he revealed the cause of his 'unpleasant' experience after concerned viewers asked about his appearance.

One fan of the ITV show tweeted: " @piersmorgan you ok? You look ill on @GMB this morning Face bloated.. pinhead eyes.. faltering voice."

In agreement, another posted: "Is Mr Morgan ok ?? Looks very strange this morning... face extremely bloated... eyes pinpoint... wobbly voice... mouth and lips all over the place."

Piers later explained: "Somebody else said Piers is unwell. I spent all weekend in bed with heat exhaustion, I was playing golf.

"I probably haven't completely recovered, but you know what? You dig deep and you battle on."

He added: "Couldn’t walk, couldn’t talk, couldn’t breathe. It was like a utopia for all my critics.

"Heat exhaustion is quite unpleasant, I’ve discovered."

Turning to GMB's resident health expert, Doctor Hilary Jones, Piers asked: " ‘I just slept it off. Was that the right thing to do?", to which Dr Hilary replied: "Yes, plenty of fluids."
