Piers Morgan 'returns' to Good Morning Britain for best bits video ahead of National Television Awards

Piers Morgan 'returned' to Good Morning Britain with Susanna Reid today for a 'best bits' video ahead of the National Television Awards.

Piers Morgan 'came back' to the show to plea for viewers’ votes at the NTA's.

The ITV1 daytime show recounted Piers and Susanna's best bits over the past year including Morgan grilling health secretary Matt Hancock over the handling of coronavirus and Dr Hilary's hilarious admission he is more of a "intimate body piercing type man".

It was the first time Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan were seen on-screen again together for the first time since Piers, 56, quit GMB in the wake of the Meghan Markle row.

The former newspaper editor left his role as presenter on the ITV1 daytime TV favourite after failing to give an apology to the Duchess of Sussex in the wake of the explosive Oprah Winfrey interview, reports Birmingham Mail.

During the best bits montage, Piers was seen grilling Health Secretary Matt Hancock and other MPs, as well as meeting the UK's oldest set of identical twins, the Tipton Twins.

Morgan exited the ITV morning show in March following a row over comments he made about the Duchess of Sussex's interview with Oprah Winfrey.

His successor has not yet been announced but former Labour spin doctor Alastair Campbell is among the people who have joined Reid at the desk as a temporary co-host.

This week has seen Bill Turnbull reunite with Susanna on the show as host.

Neil Thompson, editor of Good Morning Britain, said: "I'm thrilled that Bill is rejoining us behind the GMB desk.

"It's not just his brilliant and enduring onscreen partnership with Susanna that makes its mark, it's his relationship with the audience in general, one based on authenticity, authority, warmth, humour and trust."
