Piers Morgan 'returns' to GMB in new promo persuading fans to vote for show at NTAs

Piers Morgan has returned to Good Morning Britain - but don't get your hopes up if you reckon he'll be screaming at Health Secretary Matt Hancock any time soon.

The former host is currently appearing in a new promo for persuading fans to vote for the ITV show at the National Television Awards.

Back at Susanna Reid's side, Piers is seen lashing out at government ministers for their abject failure during the pandemic.

In a more sombre clip, Piers and Susanna pay tribute to the the health workers who have died over the last week.

A cheeky clip, however, sees Piers asking Dr Hilary Jones about whether he had any tattoos, to which the TV doctor replied as he tried to keep a straight face: "No, I'm more of an intimate body piercing man myself."

Susanna looked stunned and Piers burst into laughter.

A sweet but heartbreaking moment sees 96-year-old identical twins Lil and Doris Hobday joking around with Piers - though Doris tragically died months later in January 2021 after the pair caught coronavirus.

Piers also took to Twitter to urge fans to vote for him, despite joking that the ITV programme had since "deleted" him.

He tweeted: "Delighted to have been long-listed in three categories at the National TV Awards (even if I've been deleted from the last one).

"I've got no chance of winning, obviously, but voting for me would irritate the usual winners: So feel free."

Piers frequently let rip at Health Secretary Matt Hancock, who cried as William Shakespeare became the second patient to get the new Covid vaccine (pixel8000)

This comes after Dominic Cummings savaged the government in seven hours' worth of explosive testimony yesterday.

Cummings accused Health Secretary Matt Hancock of "lying repeatedly" and accused Prime Minister Boris Johnson of being unfit for the job.

"Tens of thousands died that didn't need to die," Cummings told MPs yesterday, with calls for an inquiry growing.

Responding to Cummings yesterday, Piers demanded Hancock's resignation if the claims are true.

He tweeted: "If what Cummings says about @MattHancock is true, the Health Secretary must resign. Never heard a more devastating evisceration of a senior Govt minister."

Piers also admitted that he wished he was back on Good Morning Britain today after he quit in a flurry back in March after refusing to apologise over comments he made about Meghan Markle.

The former host wrote: "Wish I was on TV tomorrow morning. The Govt needs torching after this #Cummings testimony."

Responding to a fan saying that they wished he was on and that GMB could invite him back as a guest presenter, he replied: "It would.. and I'm still technically under contract to present @GMB..."
