Piers Morgan reports vile death threats to police as his family is targeted

Piers Morgan is getting police involved after receiving vile death threats on social media.

The Good Morning Britain presenter, 55, says he's made a report after being subjected to disgusting abuse on his Instagram account.

The TV star shared a screenshot of messages he had received in which he and his family, including son Spencer, were targeted.

Dad-of-four Piers was told he was a "marked man" and that calling the police wouldn't stop the people who wanted to "kill" him.

Spencer was also tagged and told to "watch his back" as threats were also made against Piers' wife Celia Walden.

Piers tweeted: "Another day, another death threat... ," before sharing the name of the account that had been sending him messages and asking his fans to help identity the person behind it.

"Anyone know who he is? Let’s see how big and tough he feels when I give him the exposure he deserves," he wrote.

He later added: "UPDATE: I’ve reported these death threats to @metpoliceuk and look forward to hearing back from them. I’m also keen to hear what steps @instagram @ Facebook are taking to identify the person who made the death threats on their platform & has now deleted their account."

After one fan suggested that little would be done about his police report, Piers told them: "Well they’re definitely taking this seriously.. they’re round my house now taking a statement."

A rep for the Met Police told Daily Star : "We have received a report of malicious communications relating to messages sent on social media. Enquiries are ongoing."

Piers has been praised by his followers for attempting to stop the trolls.

One told him: "Quite right Piers, it’s time these people were recognised!!!... I'm astonished at the amount of abuse that’s on here now."

Another penned: "I don’t like you but this is shocking. How can people act this way?"

And a third added: "Ridiculous! You don't threaten families lives because you don't agree with what they say."
