Piers Morgan refuses to try Greggs new vegan steak bake - ‘It’s a total con!’

Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan raged over the new vegan steak bake, calling it a ‘total con’ and claiming people are ‘falling for it’.

Piers previously slammed the bakery chain for launching a vegan sausage roll, which he pretended to throw up after trying on the live show.

The GMB host branded the vegan bake 'rubbish' and a 'con' (ITV)

But after the release of the meat-free steak bake, Piers simply refused to give the pastry a try.

He said: “If you Google ‘steak’, a steak is a cut of meat or fish, it’s not vegan or vegetarian.

“This is non-meat, and they should not be using meat terminology to sell non-meat products.”

After calling the vegan steak bake ‘rubbish’, Charlotte Hawkins urged the host to give it a try.

He said: “I’m not going to try it, I vomited last time.

“That is not a steak, and that is not a sausage roll.

“Sausage roll has meat in it, steaks are meat or fish products.

“They are not vegan or vegetarian products.

Greggs launch vegan steak bake

“It’s a total con, you lot are all falling for it.

“There were queues round the block at some Greggs in Newcastle, probably all people they paid to be there, and you’re all falling for it.”

Co-host Susanna argued that the move wasn’t a con, but was to help protect animals.

She said: “People aren’t eating them because they’re good for you, they’re eating them because they’re good for animals.”

She added: “Apparently every vegan saves 200 animals.”
