Piers Morgan refuses to let Susanna Reid read out Government statement in clash

This is the moment Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid clashed during Tuesday morning's Good Morning Britain show.

The fiery encounter followed a student nurses debate after the care minister said student nurses are 'not deemed to be providing a service.'

The Government continued their boycott of the ITV1 show telling producers nobody would be available to appear on the show.

The department of health issued a statement instead, which Susanna tried to read out only for Piers to block her out.

Piers, shouting over his co-host, said: "Sorry, why have we got to read this?"

"Well, I'm going to read it anyway," Susanna shouted back.

Piers replied: "Why? Sorry the government won't come on the programme, why should we read their wishy washy little statement?"

"Because I think it's interesting what they say," Susanna said.

Susanna continued to red out the statement as Piers shouted over her with his fingers in his ears.

"If they want to have their statement read out, they can come on the programme," Piers said.

"You come on the programme, you can read the statement. Not listening."

Good morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1.
