Piers Morgan rages he 'can't look at' Boris Johnson after 'shameful lie' about care homes

Piers Morgan raged that he could "no longer look at Boris Johnson " this morning after his "shameful and disgusting" comments about care homes.

The prime minister was criticised yesterday after saying that "too many care homes didn't really follow the procedures" during the pandemic.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain with co-host Susanna Reid, labelled Johnson's comments as "disgusting".

"Everybody but the government is going to be blamed by the government," Piers fumed.

"Imagine if you work if a care home, imagine if you know there was an instruction [...] to take people with covid," Piers said.

Explaining how the government had responded to the criticism, Susanna said: "No. 10 have said that he wasn't shifting the blame."

Dr Hilary suggested that care homes have been 'chronically underfunded' (PA)

Piers exclaimed: "That's exactly what he was doing!"

"It's a total lie, absolute lie," Piers continued. "People buy into this nonsense.

"Imagine how they feel in those care homes today, absolutely shameful... it's Donald trump territory, it's fake news, he didn't say it at all."

Dr Hilary added his voice to the outrage, saying: "I think the careworkers need a huge pat on the back for everything they've done throughout this pandemic... there was no testing, it's been chronically underfunded."

He added: "For them to blame careworkers is extraordinary."

"The bottom line is in a global pandemic the government is responsible for protecting its citizens," Piers added. "They were second class citizens at the beginning of this pandemic."
