Piers Morgan rages at Michael Gove's huge error on children moving between separated parents

Piers Morgan was left raging at Michael Gove MP after the the Cabinet Office Minister gave incorrect information about the rules regarding children moving between separated parents during lockdown.

Gove appeared on Tuesday's Good Morning Britain to react to the drastic measures revealed by PM Boris Johnson in his hardhitting speech to the nation on Monday evening and told Piers, co-host Susanna Reid and millions of viewers at home, after telling separated parents their children cannot travel between their homes during the coronavirus lockdown.

He said: "Children should stay in the household they are currently in, we should not have children moving between households.

'I know this is incredibly difficult, this is a time of - an emotionally fraught time and a difficult one. "

In a break between hosting the show, Piers tweeted: "We need urgent clarity from the Govt. about @michaelgove’s announcement on @GMB re children moving between separated parents’ homes as it directly contradicts current Govt. advice post @BorisJohnson speech last night."

But then 15 minutes later, Gove retracted what he'd said on another breakfast show and then tweeted: "I wasn’t clear enough earlier, apologies.

'To confirm - while children should not normally be moving between households, we recognise that this may be necessary when children who are under 18 move between separated parents.

'This is permissible and has been made clear in the guidance."

That wasn't enough to quash Piers' anger though and he then tweeted: "FFS. This is ridiculous. Govt. making up policy on live TV then having to clarify it’s wrong. Totally unacceptable."
