Piers Morgan plays golf in St Andrews with celeb pals Jamie Redknapp and Ruud Gullit

Piers Morgan was in Scotland for a friendly game of golf as he showed off the Dunhill Links Golf Course on Instagram.

The former Good Morning Britain presenter was taking part in a pro-am gold tournament in St Andrews with a line-up of celeb pals and couldn't wait to boast that he was on the winning team.

Piers played with Ruud Gullit and Jamie Redknapp who successfully challenged Shane Warne and Michael Vaughan to a game.

The star posted a photo of his nutritious breakfast, enjoying a bag of Mackie's haggis and black pepper crisps.

Morgan shared a video to Instagram of the course, and captioned it: "Good morning Scotland! And what a fabulous morning it is. Great to be back for the world’s greatest golf pro-am @dunhilllinks in St Andrews where the game first began. For amateurs like me, doesn’t get better than this."

After his team's successful win, Piers was back on Instagram to boast to followers writing: "BREAKING: Football legends beat cricket legends-in-their-own-mirrors at @dunhilllinks hickory club challenge. Great to be in the winning team @ruudgullit @jamie.redknapp - and better luck next time @shanewarne23 @michaelvaughan "

The team even used some of the famous hickory golf clubs that are available at Dunhill Links, these clubs see the shaft of the golf club replaced with hickory wood.

The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship has been a longstanding and well respected gold tournament taking place in St Andrews since 2001.

As well as Morgan this year, other well known names to take place in the tournament are Gary Lineker, Michael Douglas, Samuel L. Jackson, Matthew Pinsent, Hugh Grant, Justin Timberlake, Michael Phelps and many more.

This comes soon after Piers announced an exciting new work venture with Rupert Murdoch on his new channel launching next year, Talk TV.

The move came after Morgan quit ITV after widespread backlash after he said he didn't believe the claims Meghan Markle made around her mental health.

Talking about the move, Morgan said: I'm thrilled to be returning to News Corp, which is where I began my media career more than 30 years ago.

"Rupert Murdoch has been a constant and fearless champion of free speech and we are going to be building something new and very exciting together.

"I want my global show to be a fearless forum for lively debate and agenda-setting interviews, and a place that celebrates the right of everyone to have an opinion, and for those opinions to be vigorously examined and challenged.

"I'm also delighted to become a columnist for The Sun and the New York Post, two brilliantly successful and popular newspaper brands.

"I'm going home and we're going to have some fun."
